Educational Improvements Much of Parris Glendening's contributions have been in the area of education and educational facility upgrades and improvements. Both of the authors of this page are products of public education, and the reforms that have been made were of great benifit to us. Below are some statistics on improvements made.
The state's investment in education is up, per pupil spending and school construction are at record high levels and more students are able to afford higher education. Governor Glendening has helped build, renovate, repair, and modernize more schools than any other administration. These capital investments range from new constructions to replacement roofs and boilers to the installment of hard wiring for computers and affect more than 750 schools across the Free State. The prepaid tuition program passed in the 1997 session of the Maryland General Assembly became law in October 1997. The Administration has brought computers and Internet wiring to public schools from Western Maryland to the Eastern Shore.
